Monthly meetups

Every month we wanted to bring some people to talk, maybe try a new workshop out and also raise some money for the projects we do.

We are thinking about meeting on the last Wednesday of every month, first one will be the 30th of January at 33 Windsor Place upstairs to discuss planning of 2013. Project ideas and also what the monthly events could be.

thinkARK's Monthly Meet Ups are informal evenings where conversations are started, good ideas are shared and projects begin. Each meet up will take place on the last Wednesday of each month and will feature an informal talk or workshop from people from across the UK who are running interesting and creative projects. It will be a chance to be inspired and socialise.

This month Philippa Davies joins ARK and GeekSpeak Cardiff for a joint event to talk about digital projects for community glue and growth. You can expect a quirky mix of technology, psychology and an infectious approach to creating ‘glue’ that really sticks!

Passionate about digital inclusion and community building, Philippa set up and co-runs non profit organisation www.fyinetwork.co.uk and blogs about content, creativity and low-cost technology at www.mindhive.org.uk .

Come along, 7pm, upstairs in 33 Windsor Place.

We are delighted to announce our fourth meetup which will once again take place on Wednesday 27th March. We'll be talking about co-production of public service with Noreen Blanluet. Noreen is a partner in All In this Together, an organisation that promotes co-production and its principles in Wales.

Co-production is “delivering public services through equal and reciprocal relationships between professionals, people using services, their families and their communities”. During the evening we will be talking about how co-production can be applied in a variety of contexts. The evening will include an interactive thinking and doing session around examples of where co-production has had an impact.

We will also have time to chat about projects people are thinking about doing as well. So if you have an idea want to meet new people and develop some socially motivated projects why not come along.

Please come along, 7pm, DOWNSTAIRS in Fire Island, CF10 1DD - http://fireislandcardiff.co.uk/restaurant/location/

Check out the amazing work being done by All in This Together at http://allinthistogetherwales.wordpress.com/

We have been thinking about thinkARK and how it can develop and over the last year or so we have been struggling (so to speak) to bring the mountain to us. So we have decided why not go to the mountain. To this end we have decided to make our weekly meetings monthly which will be special more event based evenings. The first one is going to be at the end of February (27th) at 33 windsor place. which is going to be really great to get it kicked off.

Victoria Tillotson one of the people behind the sunday soup groups in Bristol is coming over to talk to us about their experiences about the project. So please come along to that. Then for all the other wednesday's we will be heading far and wide to experience other peoples events and learn new things so we will be changing our calendar slightly so that we put on things that people might be interested in going to do and see. A kind of what's on for people who want to learn, do and socialise.

I would be interested in discussing projects like Good for Nothing (surprise)

It would also be interesting to generally understand what types of projects people are interesting in getting involved in and what skills people have and would like to develop (i.e. facilitation, proposal writing, event management etc etc)

also, starting a wishlist of speakers.

I think it would be great to map the skills people would like to develop as this could create interesting connections with project ideas on the night.

I think Open Space approach and perhaps a separate discussion about monthly workshops/speakers/themes would be a good way to go about it.

So have been thinking about this week. I think as discussed would be good to divide the night up possibly into three? maybe the first bit about developing the monthly event. the second looking at new project sin general and then anything that comes up after that? Not necessarily in that order.

hey guys

I've not been able to catch up for a while but this sounds great. Will definitely come along on the 30th.

Thinking cap on....

On the 30th I'd like to propose an international short film festival (6 minutes and less) , possibly a Creative Commons festival (all films screened are under this license) It could be pop up screenings all over Cardiff, or 1 main night and ThinkArk could charge a few quid for people to come in. We briefly talked discussed in the last meeting that summer would be a good time.

I'll think of a few different ideas for a theme and pitch to see which themes take everyone's fancy. The idea is to bring a showcase of high quality international short films to Cardiff!

ps really like the monthly workshop idea! I'll think of some possibilities for this on the 30th

I like this idea! Looking forward to talking about it more on the 30th.
